    Introduction
    Flyback converters are widely used in isolated DC/DC
    applications because of their relative simplicity and
    low cost compared to alternative isolated topologies. Even so, designing a traditional flyback is not
    easy—the transformer requires careful design, and
    loop compensation is complicated by the well known
    right-half plane (RHP) zero and the propagation delay
    of the opto-coupler.
    Linear Technology’s no-opto flyback converters, such
    as the LT В® 3573, LT3574, LT3575, LT3511 and LT3512,
    simplify the design of flyback converters by incorporating a primary-side sensing scheme and running the
    converter in boundary mode. The LT8300 high voltage
    monolithic isolated flyback converter further simplifies
    flyback design by integrating a 260mA, 150V DMOS
    power switch, an internal compensation network and a
    soft-start capacitor. The LT8300 operates with input supply voltages from 6V to 100V and delivers output power
    of up to 2W with as few as five external components.

    Introduction
    Traditionally, isolated power supplies use an optocoupler in the feedback loop to transfer regulation
    information across the isolation barrier. Unfortunately,
    an opto-coupler’s gain characteristic varies widely over
    temperature and lifetime, increasing the difficulty of
    power supply loop compensation.
    Linear Technology’s line of no-opto flyback converters,
    such as the LTВ®3573, LT3574, LT3575, LT3511, LT3512
    and LT8300, simplify flyback design by incorporating
    a primary-side sensing scheme, thereby eliminating
    the need for an opto-isolator.
    The LT8302 monolithic no-opto flyback converter
    has an integrated 65V/3.6A DMOS power switch with
    internal loop compensation and soft-start. The LT8302
    can operate from an input voltage as low as 2.8V to
    42V, and deliver output power up to 18W. It offers
    low ripple Burst Mode В® operation at light loads, providing low standby power loss, and features a low
    component count.

    Min Chen The non-synchronous flyback topology is widely used
    in isolated power supplies ranging from sub-watt power
    levels to tens of watts. Linear’s no-opto isolated flyback
    family dramatically simplifies isolated power supply design
    with proprietary primary-side sensing, which requires
    no opto-coupler or transformer third winding for output
    regulation. The new LT8300, the first micropower part in
    this family, significantly improves light load efficiency and
    reduces no-load input standby current to about 200ВµA.
    The LT8300 operates from an input
    voltage range of 6V to 100V and delivers up to 2W of isolated output power.
    The 150V integrated DMOS power switch
    eliminates the need for a snubber in most
    applications. By sampling the isolated
    output voltage directly from the primaryside flyback waveform, the LT8300 requires
    no opto-coupler or transformer third
    winding for regulation. The output voltage is set with a single external resistor. Internal loop compensation and soft start
    further reduce external component count.
    Boundary mode operation at heavy load
    enables the use of small magnetics and
