BD1423x-C Series Application Examples
This IC has the structure specialized for Current Sense Amplifier and has the fol owing features. Common mode voltage range is maximum 80 V with VDD of maximum 18 V (maximum 5.5 V for BD14230-C, BD14235-C), therefore it is possible to detect the current flowing in a power supply line exceeding VDD voltage. And its input bias current is very low. This IC amplifies the voltage difference across the shunt resistor between VINP and VINM and outputs an intermediate voltage with REF1 pin and REF2 pin as reference voltage. When connecting REF1 pin to VDD pin and REF2 pin to GND pin, output with reference to VDD/2, which is half of a supply voltage. If the current flows from VINP to VINM, OUT pin voltage is higher than VDD/2. If the current flows from VINM to VINP, OUT pin voltage is lower than VDD/2. When the voltages of VINP and VINM are equal, OUT pin voltage is equal to VDD/2. Figure 9. Basic Explanation 1 When REF1 pin and REF2 pin voltages are the same potential as the external reference voltage VREF, output with VREF as the reference. If the current flows from VINP to VINM, OUT pin voltage is higher than VREF. If the current flows from VINM to VINP, OUT pin voltage is lower than VREF. When the voltages of VINP and VINM are equal, OUT pin voltage is equal to VREF. Figure 10. Basic Explanation 2 www.rohm.com
